Malades en cire. Histoires des utilisations cliniques et artistiques des céroplasties syphilitiques.
Les moulages en cire sont des objets au statut complexe, à la fois patrimonial, pédagogique et médical. Autrefois, loin d’être cantonnés aux musées spécialisés, ont les retrouvait dans les films, dans les romans et sur les affiches de prévention antivénérienne. Aujourd’hui, à l’époque de la digitalisation 3D, les collections céroplastiques anciennes suscitent à nouveau l’intérêt des dermato-infectiologues. Nous nous intéresserons dans ce workshop à la fabrication et aux utilisations des céroplasties syphilitiques, ainsi qu’à leurs rapports complexes avec la pathologie et avec les malades qui leur ont servi de modèles.

Wax casts are objects with a complex status, at the same time patrimonial, educational and medical. In the past, far from being limited to specialized museums, they were used in films, in novels and on prevention posters against venereal diseases. Today, in the age of 3D digitization, old ceroplastic collections are again of interest to dermato-infectiologists. In this workshop, we will focus on the fabrication and uses of syphilitic ceroplastics, as well as their complex relationship with pathology and with the patients who served as their models.
When? On Thursday afternoon, June 30 and Friday morning, July 1, 2022.
